This yummy Asian style sauce can either be used for a tofu marinade, straight up in a stir-fry or both. The ingredients listed for the sauce makes approximately 2 servings. As for the veggies shown in the picture, I kept it basic with broccoli & peppers; however, you can choose to use whatever veggies you want or have access to. I recommend green beans, snow peas, edamame beans..basically a whole lot of greens! 😂
Ingredients for the sauce are;
- 3 TBSP soy sauce
- Juice of 1/4 of an orange
- 2 TBSP olive oil
- 2 TBSP agave
- 1/2 TBSP minced garlic
- 1/2 TBSP rice vinegar
- 1 tsp crushed chilli peppers
- 1 tsp orange zest
If using the sauce for a tofu marinade, make sure to press your tofu first. This can be done by placing a generous amount of paper towels above and below the tofu on a plate and by putting a heavy object to rest on top of it for about 20 minutes. Once done, cut the tofu into desired size pieces and put it in a Tupperware container with the sauce and let sit overnight or throughout the day. Then fry it in a wok styled pan with a lid. You can choose whether you want to fry it with or without veggies. Another option would be to add sesame seeds once it's done cooking as it will stick to the tofu and add some extra flavour. This would be delicious served with rice and edamame beans. Yum!!
If choosing to have the sauce stir fry style with vegetables, use a wok styled pan with a lid. If using tofu, stir fry that for approximately 2 - 3 minutes first and then add your veggies to cook until done. Just a side note that if you are adding broccoli, add it last as it doesn't require as much cook time as most veggies and is best served slightly undercooked than slightly over cooked. I always make this mistake.
Once done serve by itself, over rice or quinoa and sprinkle with sesame seeds and/or almond slivers.
Enjoy!!!
