These tofu bites are delicious and highly addicting. Don't say I didn't warn you...
Step One - TOFU:
You'll need 1 package of extra form tofu. Take it out of the package and press for approximately 20 minutes prior to dipping in bowl 1 & 2. I usually put it between paper towels on a plate with a heavy object resting on top.
Once tofu is pressed, I usually cut it into 16 squares; but, you can choose to cut it into however many pieces you'd like.
Step Two - Bowl 1:
- 1/4 cup enriched white flour
- 1/4 + 1 TBSP of H2O
- 1 tsp of garlic powder
- 1 tsp za'atar
- 1 tsp sumac
Step Three - Bowl 2:
- 3/4 cup vegan panko
- 2 tsp's of za'atar
Step Four - Heat oven to 375 F
Dip each piece of tofu in bowl 1 followed by bowl 2. As you complete each piece, place on baking pan until all tofu bites are ready to go into the oven.
Bake each side (front & back only) for 23 minutes. Total cooking time is 46 minutes.
As the tofu bites are cooking you can prepare the sauce. Ingredients and instructions found below.
Step Five - Ingredients for Spicy Sauce:
- 1/3 of a cup of Vegan mayo
- 1/4 cup Sriracha
- 1/2 fresh squeezed lime
- 1 tsp garlic powder
Instructions are simple. Just mix all of the above ingredients in a bowl.
Once tofu bites are done, toss in sauce. Serve in a wrap, bowl or on top of some greens. These tofu bites taste fantastic with tabbouli & hummus. See previous posts for those recipes.
