Tart Lime Smoothie


Want a delicious smoothie to go with your Nutty, Fruity chocolate square from my previous post? May I suggest a Tart Lime smoothie? It's the best smoothie that I've ever tried. It's a recipe from a book called Living Raw Food; however, I tweaked it slightly to make it more tart. The more tart, the better I say! And, since St. Patty's day is this month, this is the perfect smoothie to get your green on, literally! 

Equipment required for this smoothie is a juicer and blender. 

Ingredients for 1 smoothie are: 

  • 2.5 limes, juiced 
  • 2.5 Granny Smith apples, juiced 
  • 1 banana 
  • 1/2 of an avocado 
  • 1 TBSP of agave 
  • 1/2  tsp of lime zest

Optional items to add: 

  • 1 TSP of vanilla powder or extract. 
  • 1 TBSP shredded coconut 

Instructions are simple. Before juicing the lime, get 1/2 tsp of zest from the lime.  Juice both the limes and apples and put in blender with cut up banana , avocado slices, agave, lime zest and potentially your vanilla extract and shredded coconut. Then blend all together into a smooth delicious concoction. 

Another option is to top smoothie with coconut whip cream.
